Sponsor a Washington College Book Award at the secondary or prep school(s) of your choice. When you participate in this program, you are championing your alma mater as the ideal setting to pursue historical scholarship at the undergraduate level.
The Washington College Book Award recognizes a high school junior who, in the judgment of his or her teachers, has produced outstanding written work in the field of history. Each award is underwritten by a Washington College alumnus at a school of their choosing. Awards are typically made during spring award assemblies, and alumni sponsors are encouraged to present the awards in person to recipients.
The book presented to each award recipient will be the current winner of the George Washington Book Prize. Each year, Washington College (in partnership with the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History and George Washington's Mount Vernon) presents the $50,000 George Washington Book Prize to the author whose recently published work contributes to a greater public understanding of early American history.
